COVID-19 Response for Major Medical Policyholders Only

American Republic Insurance Company will continue to actively monitor the guidance provided by state and federal governments during the COVID-19 outbreak. This information and our handling remain subject to change as the situation develops and we receive additional regulatory guidance.

Currently, we will make the following temporary changes for major medical policies only:

1. Prior Authorization
We do not impose prior authorization requirements for the testing or treatment of COVID-19.

2. Cost Sharing
We will waive cost sharing (i.e., copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles) for medically necessary screening and testing for COVID-19 in accordance with applicable guidelines at in-network providers, including the associated visit. This includes an in-network provider office visit, in-network urgent care center visit, in-network provider telemedicine visit, or emergency department visit for such screening and testing. 

3. Prescription Drug Coverage
If your policy includes prescription drug coverage, ask your pharmacy for an early prescription refill.   

4. Telemedicine
We will provide coverage for all healthcare services that are provided through telemedicine by an in-network provider in accordance with applicable guidelines if the healthcare service would be covered were it provided through an in-person visit between the insured and a healthcare provider. For Illinois major medical policyholders only, we will waive any cost sharing associated with such coverage.
