May 1929 American Republic Insurance Company (American Republic) is founded by Watson Powell, a pioneer in the health and accident insurance business. The company begins with 200 charter policies. From the beginning, the company was dedicated to providing personal insurance services to individuals and families at the lowest possible cost. In its infancy, the company lives and grows during the great depression while so many other companies, large and small, collapse - a testimony to the skills and dedication of its founder.
