Watson Powell, Jr. succeeds his father as the company’s Chairman of the Board and President.

April 1965

American Republic dedicates its new national headquarters at 601 Sixth Avenue in Des Moines. The building still serves as the company’s national headquarters.

American Republic ranks 13th in premium volume among the nearly 1,000 companies writing individual health and accident insurance and first among the top companies in the field of individual health insurance in percent of premium dollars paid to policyholders in claim benefits.
