American Republic History American Republic Insurance Company was established in 1929 by Watson Powell with 200 charter policies. Through sound fiscal planning and responsibility the young company survived the Great Depression. By the end of World War II the company was ready to expand beyond the State of Iowa and in 1945, Minnesota became the second state in which American Republic was licensed to do business.
Today the company has become a leader in the individual health and life insurance industry. American Republic offers a variety of major medical, Medicare supplement, life, annuity and specified disease policies limited to cancer and critical illness products. We are licensed in 49 states and have nearly 15,000 agents who market our products throughout the United States.
Today we have over 230,000 active policies, a testimony to our financial stability and resolution to thrive in the challenging individual health care market.
